The story of Fontainebleau fire-station
On 11th December 1793, the Mayor decided to buy 2 fire engines. The history of the Fontainbleau fire service begins. The first station was built at 13 Rue du Château. In 1959 the mayor of the town, Paul Seramy, moved the firemen and their technical equipment to buildings on
rue des Pleus, which were opened on 3 June 1962. Becoming unsuitable, the building was replaced by the present day station at 2 Place Orloff, under the impulse of Paul Seramy and the head of the services at the time, Colonel Astier. It was opened on 27th September 1980 in the presence of Home Office Minister Christian Bonnet. Since 1st December 2001 Lieutenant Jean-Marc Sellier has taken command. Fontainebleau and its 6 attached units is one of 6 companies forming the departmental corps of the Seine et Marne fire service which was born on 17th November 1970 by decree.

Risks of the sector
Fontainebleau is at the heart of a 25000 hectare forest, a case of greenery for a gem: The National Palace. A motorway, railway and major road bring a stream of tourists and walkers all year long. Greater than the economic and industrial hazards is the protection of heritage and the welfare of casualties with a notable increase in road traffic accidents, representing the most important work of the Fontainebleau Fire Brigade.
